Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov group slug and tax strategy commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The primary game plan revolves around deploying low-cost taxation pieces and resource engines in the early turns, establishing Liesa on Turn 4, and compounding life loss through punitive triggers whenever opponents cast spells, draw cards, or attack. Because Liesa features flying and lifelink, she continuously offsets her own tax while dealing consistent commander damage. Backed by life drain multipliers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and Painful Quandary, the deck creates an oppressive clock that drains all three opponents simultaneously. The deck breaks parity through heavy lifegain and pillowfort defenses like Ghostly Prison and Blind Obedience, closing games out around Turn 8 with burst lifedrain spells such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Exsanguinate.
