Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive combat and resource-denial build centered on Kaalia of the Vast. Its primary game plan uses explosive fast mana, including Jeweled Lotus, Mana Crypt, and Dark Ritual, to deploy Kaalia on turn 2 or 3. Once on the board, Kaalia attacks immediately with haste from Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots to cheat colossal Angels, Demons, and Dragons onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. The deck creates an immediate must-answer clock on turn 3 by dropping lethal threats like Master of Cruelties, which eliminates an opponent on contact, or Avacyn, Angel of Hope, which sets up a one-sided Armageddon lock on turn 4. Strong black tutors ensure consistent access to key pieces, while Grand Abolisher, Silence, and Deflecting Swat protect Kaalia during critical combat steps. Without Kaalia, the deck transitions smoothly into a reanimation strategy via Entomb and Reanimate, maintaining high pressure across the table.
