Deck overview

This competitive mono-black deck combines oppressive stax elements with a compact two-card combo to control and close multiplayer games. Commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright, the list utilizes an extensive suite of zero- and one-mana acceleration, including Dark Ritual, Mana Vault, and Chrome Mox, to deploy game-warping stax pieces on Turns 1 and 2. Cards like Trinisphere, Null Rod, Cursed Totem, and Contamination severely restrict opposing mana and abilities, breaking parity while the deck develops its own resources. The primary win condition is the infinite Magecraft combo of Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog, which drains all opponents of life in a single turn without granting response cycles. When the primary line is contested, card engines like Ad Nauseam, Necropotence, and The One Ring generate massive card advantage to assemble backup lines through Tergrid, God of Fright attrition, Bolas's Citadel, or Praetor's Grasp.
