Deck overview

This Jeskai spellslinger deck is helmed by Gandalf, Party Guest, who turns a board of legendary Wizards into free high-cost spells at the beginning of combat. The deck ramps on early turns with low-cost legendary Wizards like Ral, Monsoon Mage, Vivi Ornitier, and Kaza, Roil Chaser. Once Gandalf enters the battlefield on Turn 4, his combat trigger cheats impactful instants and sorceries into play without paying their mana costs. On Turn 5, scaling the legendary Wizard count unlocks devastating payoffs like Storm Herd, Time Stretch, Aminatou's Augury, and Urza's Ruinous Blast. The deck closes games on Turn 6 by overwhelming opponents with flying token swarms buffed by Balmor, Battlemage Captain and Akroma's Will, or by chaining extra turns and asymmetric board clears. Strong interaction, including Deflecting Swat, Dovin's Veto, and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, protects the engine while disrupting opposing strategies.
