Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Rat-tribal control strategy helmed by Vren, the Relentless. The primary game plan uses Vren's ability to exile opponents' creatures as they die, generating a swarm of scaling 1/1 black Rat tokens at each end step. The deck then leverages a density of board wipes, edicts, and spot removal to keep opponents' boards clear while building an army. Lords like Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, Coat of Arms, and Roaming Throne turn the rat tokens into lethal threats. Wins come through overwhelming combat damage, with backup drain effects from Ayara, First of Locthwain and Zulaport Cutthroat. The deck is resilient to removal of its commander due to multiple alternate token generators and a deep interaction suite.
