Triton by Rojalion

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul is the engine of a Simic Merfolk deck that wins by turning explore triggers into a wide, counter-covered board. The primary plan is to cast Hakbal early, flood the board with Merfolk, and use lords and unblockable effects to push through combat damage. Secondary paths include Simic Ascendancy and draw payoffs like Tishana and Prime Speaker Zegana. The deck is not a combo deck; it wins through incremental combat and card advantage. It has no hidden commander; Hakbal is the primary, with Kumena and Emperor Mihail II as supporting lines. The deck is moderately dependent on Hakbal, but it can still function as a Merfolk board if he is removed.
