Deck overview

An aristocrats/reanimator build helmed by Meren of Clan Nel Toth, this Golgari deck wins by turning every dead creature into card advantage, table-wide drain, and eventual reanimation loops. The primary fast kill is the Sanguine Bond + Bloodthirsty Conqueror loop, triggered by any life-gain/life-loss event such as Zulaport Cutthroat, Bastion of Remembrance, or a sacrificed Gray Merchant of Asphodel. The secondary, grindier plan uses Meren's experience counters to recur Gray Merchant of Asphodel every end step while Dictate of Erebos, Savra, Queen of the Golgari, and The Serpent Society strip opposing boards. Sacrifice outlets like Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder, and Phyrexian Altar feed the engine, while Protean Hulk and Eternal Witness add toolbox recursion. It is a midrange attrition deck that can suddenly end the game once the two-card lifegain/drain combo comes together.
