Deck overview

This Simic deck commands the ocean depths by using Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle as both an explosive mana engine and a lethal 12/12 win condition. The strategy centers on deploying early 1- and 2-mana ramp to cast Arixmethes on turn 3. Once Arixmethes is in play as a land that taps for two mana, the deck accesses seven or more mana by turn 4, unlocking a fleet of terrifying Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents. Spells cast quickly remove slumber counters, awakening Arixmethes into a massive attacker. The deck controls the battlefield through powerful asymmetric board wipes like Whelming Wave and Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep, which bounce opposing creatures while sparing its own leviathans. Backed by efficient counterspells and card advantage engines such as Up the Beanstalk and Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep, the deck overwhelms the table with unstoppable combat damage by turn 7.
