Deck overview

This deck is an Esper topdeck-control strategy led by Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign. The primary game plan revolves around manipulating the top of the library to cheat high-cost, odd-mana-value spells into play for free whenever Yennett attacks. Supported by efficient artifact ramp, Yennett consistently enters the battlefield on Turn 4 and attacks on Turn 5. Cheating format-defining odd bombs like Void Winnower, Toxrill, the Corrosive, and Breach the Multiverse creates immediate asymmetry by crippling opposing casting options, wiping creature boards, and generating immense power on board. The deck maintains control through versatile spot removal (Swords to Plowshares, Swift Reconfiguration) and asymmetric sweepers (Promise of Loyalty, Extinction Event). While vulnerable to targeted removal during the turn Yennett is cast due to a lack of haste and reactive countermagic, independent threats like Marvo, Deep Operative and heavy control pieces ensure high resilience and inevitable combat closure by Turn 8.
