Deck overview

Kaalia of the Vast leads an aggressive combat-cheat strategy designed to deploy overwhelming Angel and Demon threats far ahead of curve. The deck focuses on assembling its commander on Turn 4 and declaring combat on Turn 5 to cheat massive game-ending creatures directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Master of Cruelties provide rapid single-player eliminations, while Archfiend of Despair, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Vilis, Broker of Blood establish commanding aerial boards that close out games over subsequent turns. To safeguard its commander, the list incorporates a dense suite of low-cost and free protection spells, including Deflecting Swat, Flawless Maneuver, Boros Charm, and Grand Abolisher. While the deck possesses explosive onset speed and evasive combat power, its reliance on Kaalia makes it vulnerable to targeted removal and board wipes, requiring careful timing and aggressive mulligans to secure early mana fixing and immediate protection.
