Deck overview

This Bant deck uses Derevi, Empyrial Tactician to establish a resource-denial lock on the table. In the early turns, it deploys efficient mana dorks to cast impactful stax pieces ahead of curve, including Winter Orb, Static Orb, Stasis, and Archon of Emeria. Derevi breaks parity on these symmetrical lock effects because every creature that connects in combat untaps a land or taps down an opposing resource. Coastal piracy engines like Edric, Spymaster of Trest, Toski, Bearer of Secrets, and Enduring Curiosity keep your hand full of countermagic and protection spells. While opponents struggle under severe mana constraints, the deck steadily accumulates combat damage using evasive creatures and Adeline, Resplendent Cathar tokens, culminating in a decisive finish with Akroma's Will.
