Deck overview

This Golgari deck is led by Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and focuses on weaponizing -1/-1 counters to control the board while generating a lethal army of 1/1 deathtouch Snake creature tokens. The strategy deploys Hapatra early on Turn 2, followed by targeted counter placement from creatures and spells to trigger continuous token production. As the token swarm expands, the deck transitions from controlling opposing creature boards to closing out the game through combat overruns like Triumph of the Hordes and Craterhoof Behemoth, poison acceleration from Fynn, the Fangbearer, or life drain via Throne of the God-Pharaoh and Obelisk Spider. While the deck possesses strong internal engine redundancy and resilient board presence against ground attacks, it relies heavily on natural card draw and has limited defense against board sweepers and stack interaction.
