Deck overview

Led by Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, this mono-blue tempo deck turns small creatures with power or toughness 1 or less into unblockable threats. During the early turns, the deck deploys low-cost creatures and connects with combat-damage draw engines such as Curiosity, Coastal Piracy, and Bident of Thassa to build a large card advantage engine. After establishing card flow, the deck shifts toward a poison win condition using unblockable infect creatures like Blighted Agent and Inkmoth Nexus, supported by proliferation engines like Thrummingbird, Viral Drake, and Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus. Defensive permanents like Teferi's Veil shield the attacking board from sorcery-speed sweepers by phasing creatures out until the next untap step. Although the deck is susceptible to mass removal and possesses light countermagic, its low mana curve and substantial draw engine allow it to rebuild and deliver lethal poison counters.
