Deck overview

This Oloro, Ageless Ascetic deck is an Esper lifegain, pillowfort, and stax-control list that leverages passive life gain from the command zone to fuel powerful resource engines and alt-win conditions. By starting life total accumulation from Turn 1 without committing mana to cast its commander, the deck establishes formidable defensive barriers using cards like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Sphere of Safety. Stax pieces like Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Aura of Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, and Rest in Peace systematically tax and restrict opponent development. Meanwhile, the deck draws cards through Well of Lost Dreams, Black Market Connections, and Trouble in Pairs. Games are closed via sudden life-threshold victories with Felidar Sovereign and Test of Endurance, the infinite life-drain loop of Exquisite Blood combined with Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, massive Angel token swarms, or direct 50-damage laser blasts from Aetherflux Reservoir.
