Deck overview

Szarel, Genesis Shepherd leads a synergistic Jund Lands deck focused on sacrificing lands for high-value payoffs, recurring them from the graveyard, and converting board actions into overwhelming creature pressure. The deck leverages self-sacrificing fetchlands alongside utility sacrifice outlets like Sylvan Safekeeper and Baloth Prime to trigger Szarel's ability, distributing massive amounts of +1/+1 counters across the battlefield. Standout payoffs including Titania, Protector of Argoth, Omnath, Locus of Rage, and Rampaging Baloths quickly convert land drops and sacrifices into expansive token armies, while mass recursion spells like Splendid Reclamation and Aftermath Analyst trigger game-ending landfall waves. Supported by flexible removal and strong redundant draw engines in The Gitrog Monster and Korvold, Fae-Cursed King, the deck steadily outvalues opponents before closing the game through massive combat damage or extra attack steps from Moraug, Fury of Akoum.
