Deck overview

This deck is a thematic Grixis midrange build centered on Sauron, the Dark Lord and the Amass mechanic. Its game plan focuses on deploying early incremental enchantments such as Dreadhorde Invasion and March from the Black Gate before casting Sauron on Turn 6. Once Sauron resolves, his passive ability punishes opponent spellcasting by rapidly building a massive Orc Army token. Combat damage from this Army triggers the Ring tempts you mechanic, which fuels Sauron's ability to discard an empty or low-value hand and draw four fresh cards each turn. The deck finishes games through sustained combat steps, turning tall Army tokens and wide Goblin swarms into lethal attackers using evasion from the Ring and finishers like Assault on Osgiliath. While vulnerable to mass sweepers and lacking fast mana acceleration, the deck boasts resilient hand replenishment and tough-to-target threats thanks to Sauron's steep Ward cost.
