Deck overview

This Esper control deck is led by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. It converts noncreature spells into table-wide burn, lifegain, and massive card advantage. By attaching damage-triggered draw auras like Curiosity or Ophidian Eye to Y'shtola, every spell with mana value 3 or greater deals 2 damage to each opponent and draws 3 cards. The deck controls the game using asymmetric stax pieces including Teferi, Time Raveler, Narset, Parter of Veils, and Cursed Totem, while pillowfort enchantments such as Ghostly Prison and Propaganda discourage attacks. Acceleration from 0-1 CMC mana rocks enables a Turn 3 commander deployment. Once established, the deck uses black tutors to assemble its primary win condition: Bloodchief Ascension combined with Mindcrank. When active, any life loss or milled card triggers a continuous loop that drains and mills all three opponents simultaneously. The deck can also storm out with Bolas's Citadel into Laboratory Maniac.
