Deck overview

This is a mono-black aristocrats deck that converts creature death into card advantage, life loss, and ultimately an infinite drain kill. Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER // Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel front side acts as an ETB/combat sacrifice outlet that draws cards; when the fourth death trigger resolves in a turn, he transforms into Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel, gaining an emblem that turns every future death into a drain and an attack that sacrifices any number of creatures to draw that many cards. The fastest wins are infinite loops: Gravecrawler with a Zombie on board, a sacrifice outlet like Phyrexian Altar or Ashnod's Altar, and a drain payoff such as Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Syr Konrad, the Grim, or Marionette Apprentice. A reanimation package featuring Entomb, Reanimate, Ever After, and Victimize can also cheat Grave Titan, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or Puppeteer Clique, while Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos keep opposing boards clear. Commanders are not combo pieces here: Sephiroth accelerates and grinds, but the engine lives in the 99.
