Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Simic Merfolk kindred strategy led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. It leverages low-cost Merfolk creatures to build an early board presence, then transitions into rapid card advantage and scaling power through Hakbal's team-wide explore triggers at combat. By exploring every turn, the deck filters draws, fills the graveyard, secures consistent land drops, and steadily distributes +1/+1 counters across the entire army. The primary route to victory relies on converting high-stat Merfolk into unblockable combat damage using evasion enablers like Herald of Secret Streams, Deepchannel Mentor, or Islandwalk granted by Lord of Atlantis alongside Harbinger of the Seas. While vulnerable to fast spell-based combo decks due to limited reactive removal, the list features strong board protection through phasing and indestructible effects like Ripples of Potential and Inspiring Call. It consistently assembles on Turn 4, threatens game-ending combat pressure by Turn 5, and eliminates all opponents by Turn 7.
