Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Rakdos Group Slug deck commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy focuses on establishing early, low-cost passive damage sources such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, Ankh of Mishra, and Underworld Dreams that guarantee opponents lose life during each of their turns. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield on Turn 3 or 4, it weaponizes this steady life loss into immense card advantage, drawing up to three extra cards per table rotation while growing in power and flying over defenses. Heavy stax-adjacent punishment pieces like Manabarbs, Spellshock, and Painful Quandary drain opposing life totals for taking basic game actions. The deck closes out games through cumulative attrition, amplified damage from Torbran, Thane of Red Fell and Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, and explosive finishers like Chandra's Ignition and Price of Progress.
