Hydra Experiment by user9781675

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary leads a BUG X-spell deck that combines a Hydra token engine with infinite-mana combo finishes. The primary plan assembles untap mana engines involving Kinnan, Bloom Tender, Selvala, Fanatic of Rhonas, and Nyxbloom Ancient to make unlimited colored mana, then dumps it into Torment of Hailfire, Hydroid Krasis, Villainous Wealth, or Finale of Devastation. The secondary path beats down with huge Hydra tokens amplified by Doubling Season, Corpsejack Menace, Ozolith, and Herald of Secret Streams. Zaxara accelerates mana and turns every X spell into a Hydra token; Thrasios is a support draw engine rather than a hidden commander. Counterspells and protection pieces keep the engine alive until the mana explosion happens.
