Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Mardu combat and midrange deck built around Aurelia, the Warleader in the command zone, supported by an array of heavy-hitting Angels, Demons, and Dragons. The strategy leverages dense 2-CMC ramp to accelerate into impactful midgame permanents such as Kaalia of the Vast, Trouble in Pairs, and Aurelia, the Law Above. On Turn 5, casting Aurelia triggers consecutive combat phases with natural haste, doubling attack triggers and dealing lethal evasive damage. The deck defends its board with an extensive suite of defensive instants including Flawless Maneuver, Boros Charm, and Grand Abolisher, while disrupting opponents through premium spot removal like Swords to Plowshares and Anguished Unmaking. Standalone powerhouses such as Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Archon of Cruelty, and Terror of the Peaks ensure that the deck functions as a lethal threat even when the commander is removed.
