Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Volrath the Fallen, combining Voltron combat lethality with heavy graveyard reanimation. The primary strategy utilizes Volrath's ability to discard high-mana-value creatures like Avatar of Woe and Bringer of the Last Gift to instantly pump his power to lethal commander damage levels. Supported by evasion equipment such as Brotherhood Regalia and surprise finishes like Tainted Strike or Essence Harvest, the deck can eliminate opponents in single swings. In parallel, the list functions as a reanimator deck, using Buried Alive, Victimize, Dread Return, and Chthonian Nightmare to return discarded monsters directly to the battlefield. The mana engine is powered by Swamps and land doublers including Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nyx Lotus, which generate massive mana reserves to fuel board wipes like Toxic Deluge or a game-ending Exsanguinate.
