Format: Commander

Commander: Aphelia, Viper Whisperer

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black aristocrats/drain strategy helmed by Aphelia, Viper Whisperer. The primary game plan is to generate a wide board of deathtouch Snake tokens via the commander's attack trigger, use sacrifice outlets and death-trigger payoffs (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Syr Konrad, the Grim) to drain opponents incrementally, and then activate the commander's {4}{B} ability to turn all Gorgon/Snake combat damage into half-life losses for a sudden kill. The deck also carries two infinite two-card combos: Exquisite Blood + Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Exquisite Blood + Marauding Blight-Priest. Fast mana, premium tutors, and a dense recursion suite support these lines, making the deck a resilient value-combo hybrid that can pivot between incremental drain and explosive finishes.
