Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Voltron-Spellslinger build focused on leveraging self-mill and low-cost noncreature spells to fuel Xande, Dark Mage. During the opening turns, the deck casts high-efficiency cantrips and mill spells to stock the graveyard with instants, sorceries, and artifacts. On Turn 4, Xande enters with massive power and toughness, leveraging innate menace alongside evasion spells like Artful Dodge and Traitor's Clutch to take down opponents through lethal commander damage. Secondary threats like Octavia, Living Thesis, Haughty Djinn, and The Mouth of Sauron provide resilient backup beaters that capitalize on the same graveyard resource. The deck maintains moderate interaction and card flow through flashback engines like Deep Analysis and Forbidden Alchemy, while Archfiend of Depravity suppresses wide creature boards.
