Deck overview

Marneus Calgar sits at the helm of an Esper token-generation and card-draw engine. The deck's primary plan is to flood the battlefield with creature tokens through cards like Bitterblossom, Elenda, the Dusk Rose, and Thalisse, Reverent Medium, then convert each token's entry into a card drawn via Marneus's ability. The resulting hand size fuels further token production and drain effects (Zulaport Cutthroat, Cruel Celebrant, Mirkwood Bats) to grind out opponents. The commander acts as both the draw engine and a finisher with his activated ability to create two vigilant Astartes tokens. Secondary paths include infinite loops using Ashnod's Altar + Pitiless Plunderer + a token producer to generate infinite mana and drain, or overwhelming combat with Mondrak, Glory Dominus and Summon: Knights of Round.
