Deck overview

This Azorius deck focuses on Merfolk tribal synergy, blending aggressive creature pressure with tempo interaction and robust protection. Led by Sygg, River Guide, the deck deploys low-cost Merfolk early and enhances them using redundant lords like Lord of Atlantis and Master of the Pearl Trident. Evasion is guaranteed by turning opposing lands into Islands through cards like Harbinger of the Seas and Aquitect's Will, enabling unblockable Islandwalk attacks. Card advantage engines such as Seafloor Oracle and Svyelun of Sea and Sky keep resources flowing as creatures connect in combat. The commander provides targeted color protection at instant speed, while counterspells like Dovin's Veto and Vodalian Hexcatcher stop board wipes. In addition to conventional combat damage, the deck can close games with an infinite extra-turn combo using Wanderwine Prophets and Deeproot Pilgrimage. The strategy excels at establishing an evasive, protected board that steadily overwhelms opponents.
