Deck overview

This Izzet deck helmed by Ashling, Rekindled // Ashling, Rimebound is a high-mana-value "big spells" build that aims to chain huge instants, sorceries, and Eldrazi threats. The commander acts as a transforming value engine: discard-to-draw on the front side and a repeatable two-mana source for **spells with mana value 4 or greater** on the back side. The primary game plan is to ramp with rocks, activate Ashling's mana ability, then cast or cheat out game-enders like Ulamog, the Defiler, Emrakul, the World Anew, or finishers via Mizzix's Mastery and Melek, Izzet Paragon. Extra turns (Capture of Jingzhou) and extra combats (Savage Beating) provide explosive bursts, while Echoes of Eternity doubles both cast and triggered abilities of colorless spells. The deck is heavily reliant on its commander to cast its top-end spells ahead of curve, and it lacks a robust early-game or dedicated tutor suite, making it a slow, high-variance strategy that thrives in longer, battlecruiser-style games.
