Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Rakdos burn-combo build centered around Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug's triggered ability turns any noncombat damage dealt to it into an equivalent number of Treasure tokens. Because Smaug is inherently indestructible, the deck exploits high-damage burn spells and symmetric board wipes—such as Cut Propulsion, Blasphemous Act, and Star of Extinction—to wipe opposing creatures while simultaneously creating 13 to 20+ Treasures. The deck then converts this sudden surge of mana into game-ending finishers like Exsanguinate, Fireball, or direct drain from Agent of the Iron Throne and Underhanded Designs. Alternatively, Blazing Sunsteel loops self-directed damage on Smaug to produce arbitrary mana in a single turn. With dense mana acceleration and heavy rummaging velocity, the deck consistently lands Smaug on Turn 5 and threatens immediate same-turn lethality on Turn 6. However, because the entire 99 contains zero secondary creatures, the deck is entirely reliant on Smaug remaining on the battlefield.
