Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group slug strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The primary game plan uses symmetrical damage engines like Sulfuric Vortex, Zo-Zu the Punisher, and Razorkin Needlehead to ensure opponents lose life during each of their turns. This continuously triggers Valgavoth, growing it into a large flying threat while drawing up to three extra cards per turn cycle. To close out games, the deck pivots into an infinite life-drain combo using Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or utilizes Archfiend of Despair to double end-step damage. A major flaw in the decklist is its land count of only 13 lands, which leads to severe mana starvation and delays key plays until late in the game despite an otherwise potent suite of disruption and win conditions.
