Rune-Tail's Nine-Turn Nap by Tamamo

Format: Commander

Commander: Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant // Rune-Tail's Essence

Bracket: 4

DeckCheck Threat Index: 34

Deck overview

This mono-white deck leverages Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant to establish an impenetrable defensive fortress. Because Commander starting life totals sit at 40, Rune-Tail flips immediately on Turn 3 into Rune-Tail's Essence, preventing all damage dealt to your creatures. Combining this effect with redirection cards like Pariah or multi-blockers like Palace Guard renders your life total immune to damage-based attacks. Meanwhile, asymmetric stax pieces such as Sphere of Safety, Blind Obedience, and Lightmine Field stall opposing combat development. Once the board is locked down, the deck wins by animating its enchantments into an army of attackers using Opalescence or Starfield of Nyx, or by casting Approach of the Second Sun. If opponents manage to wipe the board, format-defining recursion spells like Replenish and Brilliant Restoration rebuild the entire enchantment engine in a single turn.
