Format: Commander

Commander: Karlov of the Ghost Council

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Orzhov lifegain deck grows Karlov of the Ghost Council off every life-gain trigger, turning him into a removal spell and a commander-damage clock. Small soul-sister creatures, ETB lifegain, and blink spells generate repeated life-gain events, feeding counter-based draw and drain effects like Vito, Enduring Tenacity, and Sanguine Bond. The deck can win through either a huge Karlov or an attritional life-drain finish after mass blinking. The commander is not an engine; the deck still functions if he is removed, though his exile ability speeds up blockers. Without counterspells, the deck is vulnerable to stack-based combos and must use well-timed blinking to survive board wipes.
