Deck overview

This deck executes a Bad Gifts control strategy led by Jon Irenicus, Shattered One. The primary objective is to cast creatures with severe controller-bound drawbacks, such as Steel Golem, Desecration Elemental, and Phyrexian Soulgorger, and donate them to opponents during the end step. Jon permanently goads these creatures, adds +2/+2 counters, and stops them from being sacrificed, turning opposing boards into engines of self-destruction and forced combat. While opponents attack each other, Jon's controller draws an extra card for each attacking owned creature. Defensive enchantments like Propaganda and Crawlspace protect against crackbacks, while Dimir counterspells protect the engine. Once the table thins down to a final opponent, the deck finishes the game using Homeward Path to reclaim the enlarged creatures or relying on lethal attrition triggers from Archfiend of the Dross and Phyrexian Vatmother.
