Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul commands a synergistic Simic Merfolk tribal deck focused on board-wide explore triggers, counter amplification, and aggressive combat finishes. The primary game plan curves low-cost Merfolk into Hakbal on turn four, immediately triggering explore for every Merfolk at combat to ramp lands, filter draws, and grow an imposing army. You translate this board growth into victory by making your creatures unblockable through Herald of Secret Streams, Master of the Pearl Trident, or Mist Dancer, overwhelming the table in sequential combat swings. As an alternate path, Simic Ascendancy converts the rapid influx of explore counters into an inevitable non-combat victory.
