Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Tergrid, God of Fright to turn symmetric discard and sacrifice effects into overwhelming resource advantage. By casting global discard spells such as Dark Deal or repeated sacrifice effects like Fleshbag Marauder and Plaguecrafter, the deck strips opposing hands and boards while stealing all nontoken permanents directly onto its own battlefield. Dense redundancy in discard creatures ensures consistent engine triggers, while heavy stax pieces like Oppression, Braids, Cabal Minion, and Possessed Portal lock opponents out of rebuilding. The deck closes games through combat damage using stolen permanents alongside passive damage triggers from Liliana's Caress, Megrim, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck boasts immense resource denial and rapid board generation, it relies heavily on Tergrid remaining on the battlefield and has limited answers to resolved noncreature permanents.
