Commander: Kenessos, Priest of Thassa

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This Simic sea-monster deck centers on Kenessos, Priest of Thassa, a command-zone engine that turns every scry into a cheat-into-play opportunity for Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents. The deck's primary plan is to accelerate a dense ramp package into an early Kenessos, then use his activated ability (boosted by Training Grounds or Biomancer's Familiar) to put enormous creatures directly onto the battlefield, bypassing their high mana costs. An extensive suite of instants - counterspells, bounce, and protection - secures the board while the sea monsters accumulate. The win condition is straightforward combat: Serpent of Yawning Depths makes the tribe unblockable, Spawning Kraken doubles the offensive pressure with 9/9 tokens, and Koma, Cosmos Serpent generates an inexhaustible token army. Temporal Mastery provides an occasional extra turn to finish. The deck leans heavily on its commander for its explosive starts but can pivot to a slower fair-game plan when he is denied.
