Kaalia of the Vast by chestnut

Format: Commander

Commander: Kaalia of the Vast

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive, combat-focused strategy helmed by the notoriously explosive Kaalia of the Vast. The primary game plan revolves around deploying Kaalia as quickly as possible, protecting her, and swinging to cheat massive, game-altering Angels, Demons, and Dragons onto the battlefield for free. By bypassing the exorbitant mana costs of creatures like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and Balefire Dragon, the deck generates overwhelming board states that opponents struggle to answer. While the deck leans heavily into massive combat inevitability, its primary "combo" win condition is the infamous interaction between Kaalia and Master of Cruelties, which can instantly eliminate a single player. The deck plays like a classic glass cannon: if Kaalia is allowed to attack even once or twice, the value generated is often insurmountable, but it relies heavily on a dense suite of mana rocks and protection equipment to ensure she survives long enough to execute the game plan.
