Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Grixis midrange build commanded by Sauron, the Dark Lord. It combines the thematic power of The Lord of the Rings with potent creature combat and hand churn. The strategy focuses on ramping into Sauron by Turn 5, leveraging his formidable Ward ability to deter spot removal while amassing an ever-growing Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells. Combat connections with an Army trigger the Ring tempts you mechanic, cycling low-card hands into four fresh cards each turn cycle. This massive card velocity fuels a suite of 9 Nazgûl, Lord of the Nazgûl, and one-sided board suppression through Archfiend of Ifnir and Notion Thief. Reanimation spells like Living Death and Reanimate provide resilience against sweepers, while cheap countermagic protects the board as evasive Wraiths and massive Orc armies close out the game around Turn 8.
