Deck overview

This deck is a focused Grixis spellslinger storm list helmed by Kess, Dissident Mage. The strategy revolves around assembling critical mana velocity through cheap rocks and rituals, then deploying powerful tutors to set up a decisive Turn 5 storm turn. The primary game-ending route resolves Peer into the Abyss or Bonus Round, drawing massive card volume and generating surplus mana via Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, and Seething Song. From there, the deck chains copied spells into Brain Freeze, milling all three opponents out in a single turn. Kess provides tremendous resilience and card flow by allowing key spells to be recast directly from the graveyard. Backed by cheap countermagic, flexible bounce spells, and flash enablers like Borne Upon a Wind, the deck can pivot smoothly between proactive storm turns and instant-speed interaction.
