Merfolk Tribal // Hakbal (Bracket 3) by Cryption

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Simic Merfolk deck uses Hakbal of the Surging Soul to grow a wide board of Merfolk with +1/+1 counters. Hakbal makes every Merfolk explore at the start of combat, filtering lands, adding counters, and drawing cards or ramping lands when he attacks. You win by turning those counters into unblockable damage with islandwalk lords and Herald of Secret Streams, or by racing Simic Ascendancy to twenty growth counters. Counter doublers like Branching Evolution and Hardened Scales accelerate the clock, while token makers and draw engines keep you attacking each turn. Roaming Throne acts as a hidden commander that doubles Hakbal's explore triggers.
