Deck overview

This Golgari deck is led by Rendmaw, Creaking Nest and focuses on weaponizing card types and forced combat. By playing cards with two or more card types—such as artifact creatures, enchantment creatures, and artifact lands—the deck repeatedly creates 2/2 flying Bird tokens for all players. Because these tokens are permanently goaded, opponents are forced to attack one another every combat. The pilot breaks parity using asymmetric payoffs: creature entry and death drain effects like Blood Seeker and Mirkwood Bats, high-impact sweepers like Massacre Wurm and Culling Ritual, and combat finishers like Coat of Arms or Beastmaster Ascension. The deck generates steady card draw through combat triggers and morbid death triggers while sitting behind reach blockers and defensive spells. It closes games by allowing opponents to whittle down each other's life totals before sweeping the board or executing an unblockable aerial alpha strike.
