Deck overview

Garland, Royal Kidnapper drives a monarch-theft control deck: he puts an opponent on the throne, then every time an opponent becomes the monarch you steal their best creature. Stolen creatures get +2/+2 and can't be sacrificed, making them the main clock. Support lines use theft permanents (Mind Flayer, Hostage Taker, Kitsune), goad pressure (Impetus auras, Sly Instigator), and a reanimation package (Sepulchral Primordial, Gyruda, Charnel Serenade) to keep the board full. There is no hidden commander; Gyruda is only a value reanimator and is not a legal companion because the deck contains odd mana-value cards. The plan is slow but grindy, winning through repeated theft rather than combo.
