Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Grixis midrange and reanimation strategy led by Sauron, the Dark Lord. It leverages an efficient mana rock base to deploy Sauron on Turn 5. Once on the battlefield, Sauron punishes opposing spells by building a massive Orc Army. When this Army connects in combat, the Ring tempts you trigger allows the player to discard their hand and draw four fresh cards each turn. This rapid card churn fills the graveyard with powerful creatures such as The Balrog of Moria, Archfiend of Ifnir, and Hullbreaker Horror, which can be cheaply reanimated using Reanimate, Animate Dead, or Victimize. The deck protects its game plan using efficient counterspells and Sauron's oppressive ward cost. Games are closed out around Turn 8 through overwhelming combat attacks, asymmetric board wipes from Archfiend of Ifnir, or lethal multi-target damage from Chandra's Ignition.
