Overwhelming Hunger by Bubbz3544

Format: Commander

Commander: Ellie, Brick Master and Joel, Resolute Survivor

Bracket: 3

DeckCheck Threat Index: 16

Deck overview

This deck uses Ellie, Brick Master to create attacking Cordyceps tokens and Joel, Resolute Survivor to draw when tokens die. It then converts those creatures into counters, cards, life, or larger threats through devour creatures such as Mycoloth, Preyseizer Dragon, and Fell Beast of Mordor. Anger and Brawn provide useful graveyard-based haste and trample, while token doublers can raise the deck’s ceiling. In ordinary games, ramp and tutors assemble the commander engine around turn 7, with the first must-answer devour board around turn 8. The deck is not a deterministic combo deck: its damage plan depends on token production, combat, and opponents’ blockers. It has reasonable spot interaction and several protection spells, but little stack interaction and no persistent denial. Its strongest games produce a wide, hasty, trampling board; its weakest games are slowed by expensive payoffs, commander dependence, or removal aimed at the token engine.
