Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Gwenom, Remorseless to turn life totals into an explosive mana substitute. By accelerating with two-mana artifacts, the deck reliably deploys Gwenom on Turn 4 and attacks on Turn 5. Her attack trigger mimics Bolas's Citadel, allowing you to cast spells from the top of your library by paying life rather than mana. High-impact demons, vampires, and drain engines enter the battlefield in rapid succession, while Gwenom's lifelink and lifegain staples replenish your life total. The deck wins by stacking massive drain triggers from Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Defiling Daemogoth, or by assembling an infinite two-card combo with Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond. Supported by efficient spot removal and graveyard hate, the deck balances aggressive life payment with compounding life-drain attrition.
