Deck overview

This Sultai deck focuses on the mutate mechanic led by Otrimi, the Ever-Playful. The game plan revolves around deploying inexpensive, evasive, or resilient non-Human creatures early, then mutating powerful creatures onto them to build a tall, multi-ability threat. Mutating Otrimi, the Ever-Playful allows the deck to repeatedly recur mutate cards from the graveyard whenever it deals combat damage to a player, fueling explosive turns with creatures like Auspicious Starrix and Archipelagore. While the deck features strong value generation and versatile permanent removal in Deadly Rollick and Beast Within, it relies entirely on fair combat damage to win. Because it stacks multiple cards onto single creatures without dedicated hexproof protection or countermagic, it remains vulnerable to targeted removal and sweepers.
