Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Midrange build centered on Sauron, the Dark Lord, combining control elements with the Amass and Ring Tempts You mechanics. The early turns focus on developing mana through basic lands and 2-to-3-mana mana rocks. Once Sauron enters the battlefield on Turn 6, his passive abilities punish opponents for casting spells by rapidly inflating an Orc Army token. Combat connections with the Army repeatedly trigger the Ring temptation, allowing you to discard small hands and draw four cards to maintain card advantage. The deck controls opposing boards through an array of damage-based and toughness-reducing sweepers like Chain Reaction and Languish. Because it lacks infinite combos or mass overrun effects, victory is achieved gradually through fair combat damage with large Armies and commander damage, typically closing games around Turn 10.
