Deck overview

This is an Esper discard-and-reanimate value engine helmed by Hashaton, Scarab's Fist. The core loop is simple: bin a powerful creature with one of the deck's dozen-plus looter effects (Merfolk Looter, Ledger Shredder, Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator, Psychic Frog, Rona, Herald of Invasion), then either reanimate it with Reanimate, Animate Dead, Victimize, or Living Death, or pay {2}{U} to have Hashaton create a 4/4 token copy of it. The reanimation targets are format-warping bombs - Archon of Cruelty, Toxrill, the Corrosive, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and Valgavoth, Terror Eater - that dominate the board and end games through combat and Gray Merchant of Asphodel drains. A Peregrine Drake untap loop generates large mana, feeding token copies and a Laboratory Maniac or drain finish. The deck grinds through wipes with Living Death and top-tier recursion, presenting an overwhelming mid-game board.
