Deck overview

This Dimir control deck utilizes Garland, Royal Kidnapper to introduce the monarch mechanic as a political and offensive weapon. When Garland enters, he grants the monarch to an opponent and immediately steals their strongest creature, buffing it with +2/+2 and granting sacrifice immunity. The deck accelerates this advantage by employing goad auras such as Coercive Impetus and Ghoulish Impetus alongside Bloodthirsty Blade to force opponents to attack one another. As the monarch changes hands between opponents, Garland triggers repeatedly, systematically siphoning opposing boards. Blink spells like Ghostly Flicker and Essence Flux re-trigger Garland's entry ability, while clones like Sakashima of a Thousand Faces and Spark Double amplify theft triggers. A lean interaction suite of counterspells and efficient removal protects your stolen board, while cards like The Darkness Crystal exile dying enemy creatures. The deck ultimately closes the game via overwhelming combat damage and Reins of Power.
