Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Zombie Tribal Aristocrats strategy commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on developing a resilient, synergistic board of low-cost Zombie creatures and compounding death triggers. Early turns emphasize mana development and establishing engine pieces like Cryptbreaker, Undead Augur, and Skullclamp. In the midgame, the deck leverages tribal lords such as Death Baron, Lord of the Accursed, and Undead Warchief to apply menacing combat pressure while utilizing asymmetric disruption from Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Noxious Ghoul. The deck closes out games around Turn 9 through massive life-drain bursts from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, aristocrat burn via Ayara, First of Locthwain and Vengeful Dead, or overwhelming swarms from Grave Titan and a kicked Josu Vess, Lich Knight. Avacyn, Angel of Horror acts as high-cost late-game insurance, recurring nontoken creatures that perish in combat or to board wipes.
